The use of virtual visit in the outpatient/ED areas have expanded within the hospital walls allowing clinicians to “drop in” and conduct virtual care in the inpatient setting. Applying telehealth concepts, an academic medical center piloted virtual nursing to improve patient experience and address clinical documentation burden. The pilot outcomes have shown improvements in patient and nurse satisfaction. This presentation will provide insights in overcoming technology barriers and lessons learned in expanding the pilot program as part of the standard of care.
